neighborhood watch & security

Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that enlists the active participation of residents in cooperation with law enforcement to reduce crime, solve problems and improve the quality of life in your neighborhood. By participating in this program you will get to know your neighbors and work with them to:
  • Recognize and report crimes and suspicious activities
  • Protect yourself, your family, and your property
  • Protect your neighbor’s family and property
  • Identify crime and disorder problems in your area
  • Work with the San Diego Police Department personnel to solve issues

We currently have a Neighborhood Watch program in Villa Portofino, but we need your help!

Our goal is to have an Alley Captain for every alley in our community and to encourage residents to participate by getting to know their neighbors on their alley, watch out for each other, and report suspicious behavior. The Neighborhood Watch Committee meets once a month, and attendance is not mandatory at these meetings, although we would like Alley Captains to attend.

Alley Captains are asked to complete a map for their alley and share it with alley residents, so neighbors know each other's name, address, phone number, and email and can contact them in case of suspicious incidents.

If you are interested in serving as an Alley Captain or participating in Villa Portofino's Neighborhood Watch, please contact the VPHOA office at (858) 571-0722. Neighborhood Watch meetings are the first Monday of every month at 6:30 pm in the VPHOA Clubhouse. Please join us!
